Let’s talk about invisible illnesses.
What is an invisible illness?
An invisible illness is an umbrella term for any medical condition that isn’t easily visible to others and are generally chronic conditions.
Many patients with invisible illnesses look healthy on the outside, leaving them to deal with medical practitioners who question whether they are truly sick. An invisible illness can go undiagnosed and has even been misdiagnosed & can take up to years to diagnose. It’s important to raise awareness in the medical communities about invisible illnesses so that patients can receive the proper medical attention and diagnoses.
I spread awareness and advocate for families with children and babies with invisible illnesses that get misdiagnosed and falsely accused of child abuse. We call this medically kidnapped.
Medically kidnapped is when someone is or has faced medical misdiagnoses. In this case, the misdiagnoses of “child abuse” by doctors.
Child abuse is real and is NOT ok & is devastating. However, falsely accusing loving innocent parents of child abuse is also devastating & NOT ok.
All parents/families want is for Dr.’s especially pediatricians who are training in child abuse pediatric, now that it’s board certified, is to make sure they have the adequate training outside of child abuse and keep up on the conditions and the environmental conditions and the safety factors out there that can hurt children that have NOTHING to do w/ abuse.
Doctors need to ensure they are NOT misdiagnosing and accusing families of abuse when there is no abuse. Doctors need to protect our loved ones, particularly a child that may have had a previously undiagnosed condition.
There is 80+ medical conditions that mimic child abuse and go undiagnosed by emergency room doctors.
WHY do SO many families have to go through this trauma of wrongful accusations, separating children from loving parents, wrongful charges, trauma, and bankruptcy all due to the misdiagnosing of “SBS” or “Abuse”?
